Lines and Styling

This is a test job we (ange + rj) did back in the styling days. It was a comic story so merging the photography with illustration made sense... I guess I was desperately trying to get back to drawing.

::inspiration::
i killed a rat once. as much as i think they are disgusting, i feel terrible.
this is an homage to the rat.
i'm sorry, rat.

...she's like the wind...

just posted this one on etsy and i can't get the song out of my head...

::prints on etsy::

many people have contacted me asking if i were ever going to sell prints of my artwork... it's always been in my mind, and it took me a while to finally decide to do it.
not everybody wants art on cups...plates...saucers... ;)
i just posted the suffocation part I::II on my etsy shop.
maybe some day i'll sell the originals...

::PUI's new album cover::

this was my first commission work for an album cover.
PUI's new album now available at itunes store.
you can find the original art work at my illustration website.

the inspiration came from talks with NC (vocals + guitar) and his passion for egyptian history/art and darkness.
i thought of a death of great leading to birth of ultimate greatness.
the introduction of a new, fresh and unique band.

fun fact: click on the image. step away from the screen. can you see a screaming creature?

::vintage obsession::

as you may have noticed, i've been quite fascinated with vintage wares. to feed my obsession, i've been browsing thru several flea markets, online vintage shops, ebay, etsy....
i've found amazing vintage plates, cups and saucers and couldn't wait to draw on them.
so, for the last couple of days i've been doing so::it's so rewarding to draw on something so beautiful and old. it makes me wonder about the history of it...
here's my first set of vintage wall plate set.
these sets are one of a kind.

when i found 'lines'...

i was in korea and i was absolutely bored (not that korea was boring me, i was just bored), so i bought the first sketchbook i found (which happened to have all those inspiring ;) quotes - read previous post), and started drawing my dreams.
it was the first time i used lines as the dominant technique to illustrate.
i was obsessed by lines ever since...

vintage doodles

so this is what i did in college. daydream + doodle.
i did get in trouble a lot for drawing caricatures of my teachers.
once, this odd, but interesting looking teacher caught me drawing him and he asked if the caricature did really look like him. i accidentally said: "better." i meant it the other way around, but oh well.
these are no caricatures, just doodles...

Collection Series first project: STICKERS!!!

i have a collection of illustrations that i've always wanted to share. i decided that a sticker set would be a nice way to do it. so i've selected a few that go well together and created my first sticker set ever ;)
actually, that's not true. i used to make stickers (drawings + contact paper) when i was little and sell them door-to-door. best seller was the "hang loose" hand gesture...
