So...
Hi!
Hope you are well and enjoying your summer (or winter...) so far!
This summer I've been working on new products and designs which you will be hearing more about soon (very soon). I've also been prepping for the Union Square Holiday Market (NYC Nov 25 - Dec 24, 2009) - so I've had a lot of learning experiences, the company has grown and most importantly, I've met a lot of amazing people.
I am going away on a family trip to Ireland and am very much looking forward to it! It will be nice to re-energize and pick up on some inspiration. The best part about it (this trip) is that our dogs, Bailey and Guinness, will be traveling with us!!!
So, it's been quite hectic over here - creating, organizing, prepping.... and lot's of trips to the vet...
- but very, very exciting!
As summer is coming to an end and new collections are around the corner - I thought this would be the perfect time to start my biggest sale ever!
50% OFF the entire shop!!! Starting TODAY Wednesday, Aug. 12!
YES!
Enter Coupon Code BDB50OFF at checkout.
Please enjoy the sale! It's a great head start on your holiday shopping, no?
Thank you, everybody!
I'll talk to you soon.

Dot Series
New additions to my dear Dot Series. The Dotted (salt and pepper) Shakers are very simple and delicate. I purposely kept it (the design) very minimal so it goes well with any other table ware. If you're not a shaker user, I suggest using them as decoration pieces. They look quite beautiful on the shelf next to books, candles, vases, photo frames...
Both are decorated with 23k Gold decals from handpainted tiny little dots by yours truly.

{ Today Feels So Good }
May is long gone and thankfully, it dragged "mercury retrospect...oops retrograde" with it. Things are moving forward and it only brings excitement and also anxiety plus nervousness. But mostly, excitement.
I've been working on many (many) new projects for BDB and finally I can see light in the end of the tunnel. Thanks to the support (and hard work!) of some very important people - You know who you are.
Anyway, today I'm literally "jumping of joy". Because I'm very superstitious, I'll only reveal the reasons (for the jumps of joy) when things are finalized. However, I can share one very important reason (news)!

Bailey Doesn't Bark has been accepted to participate in this year's Union Square Holiday Market!
This particular Holiday Market is one of the largest and most popular markets in New York City. It's located in Union Square and goes on for a month (Nov - Dec).
I've been going to the Holiday Market as a shopper ever since I moved to New York. I love buying my holiday gifts there (with a hot caramel apple cider on hand). It's always so pleasant. (ok, not when it's too crowded.)
Anyway, will write more about it when it's closer to the event. I just wanted to share the news.
If anything, I'm taking this as a huge experience. There will be many new BDB items being revealed at this market... I canNOT wait!

One Year on Etsy, wow.
Time really does fly. Today completes one year of Bailey Doesn't Bark on Etsy.com. That's when (unofficially), BDB started business. Picture above: first sale.
I want to thank Etsy for existing. Because of Etsy, starting a business was a lot easier. The resources for independent, small business owners are great and the community extremely helpful and welcoming. The exposure Etsy gets and provides is phenomenal. If you're an artist, struggling to get your own business started, I highly recommend Etsy. Try it out, ask around, explore. Really, just do it.
Now, BDB has it's own ecommerce website - after one whole year. Didn't seem that much when we launched the website last month. I didn't even realize it had been a year today, til, today :) I'm not going to lie, I do wish I had accomplished a lot more in a year than I have. I wish everyday would have more hours or just slow down a bit. I wish I can have all those years back that I spent on the wrong career. What's life's return policy?
However, I am very very happy that I've finally found the right path (I will catch up) and am EXTREMELY grateful to my customers, friends and family. Seriously, not trying to be cheesy, but what would I do without you?
Anyway...
Today I'll share with you how I picked the name Bailey for my brussels griffon. I recruited my brother to help me pick a name. I went online and went through baby names :/
As I read the ones I liked out loud, my brother would yell (in portuguese), twisting his voice a bit and as if we were back to age 5 and 10: AaAaraArggh I can't believe you're naming your dog that.
It became a bit annoying after naming more than a dozen names... But it was when I said: Bailey - he paused, looked at me in the eyes and said: you can't be serious.
That's when I, me, 10 years old "I'm going to annoy my little brother" me, knew that we had finally found a name for the little brussles griffon arriving on August 23rd.

To celebrate, I'd like to gift The Four Seasons Cup Set 23kGold to one lucky person,

Going Green...
... Taking baby steps.
Most BDB packing supplies are either recyclable, reusable or biodegradable. I've got a rubber stamp custom made to stamp the packing supplies just as a friendly reminder for the recipient.
When I receive a package, if it's filled with peanuts, I'll reuse them, same with bubble wraps. If filled with brown paper or newspaper, and it's decent enough to re-use, I'll re-use - otherwise it goes in the recycling bin. As for the box, I'll cut it into pieces to use them for my own packaging (double walls for the most fragile items or dividers).
Again, baby steps.
